Chinese New Year Party

hi there.
now I am planning Chinese New Year Party at the mid of February in Tokyo.
I am searching the place we can make a cook and eat.
if you are interested in it, let me know!

Sex

I heard that around 80% women had the experience to suffer from violence related sexuality, sexual abused or other violence, according to NHK.and I also heard that one tenth adult guy had the experience to buy sex in prostitution.
I actually know people who work in this industry and buy it. I don't want to criticize them. I know they all have their own contexts.
and always there are the value as their lives.
so I would like to think how to stop violence.

not only Japan, I head several sad news from overseas.
various components lead to the situation of vulnerability.
Poverty, the access to Society, Tendency of People...

we need to establish just world without poverty.
gender equality is one of essential essences.
and I would like to join the process to promote our world better and better.
I don't want to see pain and tear any more.

Super Unfortunate SUSHI

I had some session that I shared the way to use PC and Internet with My mom and Grandma yesterday.
they actually started facebook unfortunately or fortunately, hahaha.

by the way, we went to Sushi-go-round after lecture.
the price was 105 yen/ each one. yeah it was quite cheep one.

but after I ate one plate, I felt bad taste.
I thought there were much use of Chemical Seasonings!!
I really regretted to enter that restaurant.

in Japan, there are many restaurants that use Chemical Seasonings.
Chemical Seasonings made the effect promoting people to be crazy about eating again and again due to Chemical ingredients.

I'm really concerned this tendency.

Cute or Beauty

at beginning of this year, I discussed the difference between Cuteness and Beauty with Korean Friend.

at the way home, he said "Japanese women are so cute. which do you like, Yoichi?".
I said, "it depends. but I think there are some tendencies in Japan."
He:"What's?"
I:"yeah, Japanese tends to say Cute but it is not often to say Beauty."
I:"and I think, many Japanese women are charming and cute rather than Beauty" according to my experience. how do you think?"
He:"in general."
I:"and I think Korean women are more beautiful than cute... in my opinion. "
I:"I want to get woman who are beautiful with long-term-partner, rather than cute-girl. of course, heart and her vision is important points."
He:"hahaha, it is"

but I watched music video of Wonder Girls yesterday.
their faces seemed GIRL.
although their behaviors and voices seemed more beautiful than Japanese idles, Is the tendency of celebrities(:people likes youngness?) same?

umm, I have questions to ladies and gentle men.
1. Question to men
what is your definition of cuteness and beauty?
and which is your priority essence when you decide partner?

2. Question to Women
what is your definition of cuteness and beauty?
and Which do you like to be called as Cute or Beautiful?

Output -its importance and way-

I joined the event of sharing experience about COP15 organized by Waseda Environmental Leader’s Consortium(WELC) last friday.
there were several members of Japanese Youth Delegation and Yamagishi-san, Climate Change Project leader of World Wild Fund for Nature Japan.
Youth Member shared what they did and what they felt in COP15.
Yamagishi-san explained the meaning of COP15.

in Japan, media did not shared the fact of what COP discussed and their contexts very well. Japanese Media just said that Developing Countries broke the conference and they just said aid was needed.
yeah, this is absolutely sad thing and one of shame in Japan.

our media did not shared context, why did they speak out?
the villages in Bangladesh were still under water one month after cyclone came.
there were lack of rain in mountain side, China.
following video is for your information.

Climate Change firstly brings about bad impact to people under poverty in developing countries.
many farmer faces the difficulties because long drought affected by Climate Change reduced the amount of their crop.

people tends to discuss Climate Change as Environment Issue in Japan.
but this is really the issue on Economic Justice in Global Level.
people in developing countries got angry and were sad to face these additional cost, even though the largest emission did not come from their countries.
*it means Historical responsibility.
*in my opinion, China and India also should show the partnership. but Developed Countries should more and more.

some members of Japanese Youth Delegation met the youth from developing countries and listened to real voice.
I think it is good thing.
and I really want to share it in Japanese Communities more and more. this is also their responsibility as the youth delegation.
although it is important to send the message as youth in Copenhagen, it is more important to share what they felt and saw with other Japanese Youth.
history is not to be given but to be made by our will.
for this purpose, we need to know the certain context.

Yamagishi-san also explained the context of COP 15.
it is vert important to explain simply and easily.
he used several simple word. it is easy to understand.
I think it is no meaning if we use special term in the opportunity to share.
we should always think the situation of participants and our plan, how we change their mind.

2010-01-14

Why AIESEC? Why MUN?

people tend to use why .....
but almost value is to be made by you.
it is not to be given in advance.

we need to think the vision that is given in advance and set it in our mind again.
then, we can make the practical plan to maximize goals toward its vision.
and people called these process "Strategic"!!

It is not too late to take action!

hi there, I would like to share Oxfam International Youth Partnership.
it is great opportunity to know and share your idea and get new idea from others.

Young people can get larger impact of poverty and injustice.
at same time, young people can play important role on economic, social and political change!

I would like to share the letter from Oxfam International Youth Partnership Team.

(Forward)
*Applications are now being accepted for Oxfam International Youth Partnerships until the 12th February 2010.

Please pass this on to any young people (18-25 years old) you know who want to bring about positive change in their communities, are committed to working with others, and want to learn from other young people around the world. We also encourage more than one applicant from each organisation or community group.

What is OIYP?
Oxfam International Youth Partnerships (OIYP) is an Oxfam International initiative, managed by Oxfam Australian since 2000. OIYP strengthens young people’s ability to effect change in their community, and provides a base from which they can influence broader changes through engagement in a global network of over 1100 OIYP Action Partners.

Through a 3 year Program, OIYP will provide opportunities and support for 300 new Action Partners so they may demonstrate leadership and expand the influence of youth for positive changes locally, nationally and globally.

To launch the 2010 – 2013 OIYP Program, Oxfam will host an 8 day Kaleidoscope event in November 2010 in New Delhi, India. At this event, Action Partners are given the opportunity to connect with people across regions and cultures that are facing similar challenges in their own communities. This allows for the chance for a cultural exchange, as well as the exchange of skills and knowledge building and planning on how young people can contribute to changes in their own lives as well as the lives of others in their communities. The following two years includes a variety of online and offline learning and development opportunities including face to face workshops, cultural immersion programs, e-workshops, online discussions and networking opportunities.

For more information about the Oxfam International Youth Partnerships (OIYP) Program, please visit our website
www.oiyp.oxfam.org.

A short video of the last Kaleidoscope event, held in 2007 in Sydney, can be found here -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgPRoCGI6_U.

Who are we looking for?
Every 3 years OIYP goes through a rigorous process of recruiting and selecting a new group of 300 Action Partners. To be eligible to apply, applicants must be aged 18-25, able to speak English or Spanish conversationally and available to attend an 8 day event in November 2010, in New Delhi, India.

Core selection criteria:
· Commitment to finding new ways of working
· Evidence of commitment to positive, equitable and sustainable change
· Ability to explain their own understanding of the issues they’re working on
· A commitment to personal reflection and developing self awareness
· Community or organizational support

OIYP is open to all nationalities, Indigenous and ethnic groups. It is open to young people with any level of education and who live in rural or urban areas. We have a strong focus on the participation of Indigenous young people and those marginalised in their communities.

For the 2010 – 2013 OIYP Program, Oxfam is specifically targeting young people who:

· Are active on gender justice
· From communities impacted by climate change
· Living with a disability
· Using innovative means to influence decision makers (locally or nationally)
· Are from minority Indigenous groups

Applying to be part of OIYP
Application forms in word and PDF format are available by visiting
www.oiyp.oxfam.org or can be directly found athttp://oiyp.oxfam.org/oiyp/template_02.aspx?id=52

Applications will be assessed against selection criteria by Oxfam Australia staff; staff from other Oxfam affiliates; youth partners and current OIYP Action Partners.

Applications close on 12 February 2010.

Applicants will be informed of their selection by mid April 2010. At this point, we will inform successful applicants (Action Partners) of how OIYP will support them to attend the OIYP Kaleidoscope 2010 event. There is a limited scholarship pool which will be allocated to support travel costs for many of the top selected Action Partners. However some Action Partners may be required to fundraise for travel costs, in these cases OIYP will provide support letters and training on fundraising. There is no registration fee for OIYP.

Below is more information about OIYP and who we seek to work with for the next 3 years. I hope this helps you to identify the young people who would really value this opportunity. I appreciate your support in helping to promote this opportunity by getting the application form into the hands of appropriate young people.

Please feel free to contact the OIYP team if you would like to discuss OIYP further or if you have any specific questions about the application form.

Soap and what we can do-JVC Thai Volunteer Team-

I bought homemade soap at global festa.
this soap was made by Thai Project Volunteer Team at Japan Volunteer Center.
*Japan Volunteer Center is one of the pioneer NGO in Japan.

they said, they learnt the importance to sustain the environment through seeing Thai life in their project.
when we look back to our daily lives, we can find much of bad things to damage natural environment.

so they started to make handmade soap.
handmade soap is good not only for environment but also for human skin.
soap that was sold had chemical essence which brings about bad damage to environment and human skin.
so handmade soap is quite good idea.

and their sals will be donated to the activities of JVC.
I really recommend you to use it.
(I actually use it!)

Facebook Security Sense

many people enjoyed facebook in these days.
facebook is greater web tool. it provides the opportunity to share what we do with friends easily and smoothly, even if they live in other countries.
we can share photo, video and what we feel in wall.
I really enjoyed sharing what I do with my friends and seeing what they do in all over the world.

However, I got friend request from person whom I don't know in real world.
generally, I rejected these requests.
because facebook provides much of information about my private things, such as photo, job, video, place I live and so on.
moreover, facbook provides the photo of my friends I took.
and if someone get the status of my friend, it means he/she can access the photo I took.
so I have the responsibility to protect my friends from suspected guys.

but unfortunately, there were many people who are easy to click "add" without any consideration, especially in the case he/she had common friends with suspected guys.
this is one concern in present facebook trend.

I don't remember the name sometime.
but I always ask them to give me additional information about them before clicking "add".
actually there are many people using different name and photo with real one.

and more, I have one more facebook policy.
if he/she is not friend in real world, I can add the person whom I know in real or whom some friend suggests to make friend with. I actually add several people in that way.

BUT I NEVER FORGET,
there are people who are very BAD.
they always wants to EARN MONEY from our information.
and OUR PHOTO may be under VULNERABILITY if we have no security policy.
we need to know our RESPONSIBILITY to protect our friends, if you think they are important.

The Partnership

we like to use "Partnership" in management.
but it meant, sometime, the one side exploited the other side in the fact.
for example, it can be seen between Youth Organization and other organization organized by adult guys.

before making partnership, we need to share common goal as consensus.
especially, if we work toward social impact, we need to set ultimate value beyond each benefit.

so I think "partnership" requires us to think the vision of our organization.

Korean Community in Japan

I went to Farewell Party yesterday.
Dong-Myeon, one of korean friend will come back to his mother country.
his korean friends organized farewell party.
I was also invited!

although I had some tasks and I joined it late, they welcomed me.
to say the truth, this was second time to see him who were the special guest.
when I entered the party room, there were about 10 people.
all of them were korean.
hahaha, yes, I was the minority in that room.
but I never felt minority.
I did not understand korean language, but I understood the situation from reading between the line.

there were several sessions for Don-Myeong.
everyone showed their hearts on each performance.
I little felt 정(john/Mercy? or love?).
there were much of love.

what I learnt from the experience of farewell party is the importance of heart-based-communication in society.
we felt isolated in daily lives, especially modern society.
in Japan, such a community seemed to be lost, generally.
we, human, are social creature.
we learn and grow up in communication with others, especially heart to heart talking.

life is beautiful.
because we stay with friends.
I hope everyone can enjoy their lives.
I keep my commitment for that goals.

P.S. I will upload some pics and video on facebook ASAP.

Hospitality-Vision and Practice-

as you know, I have managed events over 20 times and join events over 1oo times during my university days.
these experiences tells that there are two type of event.

the one is the event for guest and society.
this type of event is generally based on the Vision, what they want to provide in event as opportunity.
and The Vision should be social value. if not, there is no meaning.
if their vision have social value, it is so easy to make good event.
they makes the event according to the way to maximize that the participants get what they want to provide.
according to vision, host side just pick up necessary contents.
they always think social impact of the event.
and the event is one of the tool to change the participants.
this event is tool to set new value in participants.
*it is also important to share good impact with all participants without unfair.

in the other hand, there are many event for host side.
some host people worked for themselves, not for guests, like inside event.
some NGOs, Youth Organizations and Universities did these event unfortunately.
we must not forget our responsibility to make the participants fun.
and we need to keep providing the value in each event.

yeah, I also know it is hard to practice according to vision.
although I understood the difficulty of preparation, too much logistics and financial challenging, we must not forget our responsibility. to make a relationship with society always need responsibility.
and we can make a value after we keep responsibility.

Korean Guys in Japan

I had lunch and great chat time with Angela yesterday.
it has been long time no see each other since last time.

Angela became more and more beautiful.
so I asked her "you got Plastic Surgery?" hahaha, it's also joking.
her beauty came from her mind.

I consult with her about how to sing in Cyworld that it is largest Social Network Service in Republic of Korea, and organized by SK Telecoms.
it is quite hard to manage it. it is organized in only Korean Language.
and I cannot know it.

I need her help.
so I must say "Angela 주세요〜〜".
(it is also joking. you know, Angela.)

then, she took me to the cathedral Church near? Mejiro.
there was Volunteer Committee of Korean guys.
she introduced some korean guys.
I really enjoyed talking with them.
although I am not christian, but I confirmed the importance of community.
thanks Angela.

Natural Disaster but human-made tragedy

According Reuters, up to 250 people were injured on Sunday when a 6.0 magnitude earthquake destroyed buildings in Malawi's northern district of Karonga.
in Japan, this news was not known. I have just known from Mailing List of Africa Japan Associations.

although present natural disasters, some time we called them in the context of Climate Change, injured people and destroyed our lifeline, I think we should focus to the mechanism that makes people vulnerable.

please think!
if we had the early alert system to Tsunami or Typhoon in regional and national level, how many lives could we save?
if we could provide such information fairly, how many people did they run away before floods?

we always tend to say "it is main cause".
it is super easy to make one thing as wrong part.
it looks like easy to find out, because simple, easy and short example is super understandable.

we need to know what makes worse and what we should do.
for the purpose of doing that, we need to know the context of issues.
