today, I went to the seminar. Main speaker was Kumi Naidu.
he is Greenpeace CEO, chair of the Global Call to Action against Poverty and also chair of Global Campaign for Climate Action.
He emphasized the role of Civil Society is so important, in this seminar.
"Civil Society must take the responsibility for global agenda as well as Government."
He explained several challenges we are facing such as Climate Change and Aid-issue and what they demanded.
Kumi introduced Kofi Anan’s organization said 300 thousands died everyday by Climate Change.
Darfur is also related with Climate Change. One cause of them is lack of water caused by Climate Change.
People in North, People who emitted Greenhouse Gas bother South people, people who had largest impact.
Last year, Civil Society mobilized millions people for global agenda, such as STAND UP TAKE ACTION, COP15.
But Government keeps their behavior un-change.
He said all civil challenge are related with Justice. So we need to unite for ONE!
Each action does not make a difference, so we need to unite and make government to find that they will lose next erection.
Kumi saidWe need to promote relationship with Labor Unions or Religious Organizations. Generally, Religious Organization has good structure in society.
Although the activities sending product to people in trouble is good, but we need to lobby and advocacy more and more for change
It is important to have the heart for CHANGE, although the leadership such as King Jr, Gandhi or Mandela, promotes CHANGE.
It is importance to change their behavior.
He show the question about democracy in Japan.
